 Gaia Viking Voyage The preparations for the Gaia Viking Voyage are in its last stage and will be concluded in May. 2-6-2005 The preparations for the Gaia Viking Voyage are in its last stage and will be concluded in May. The ship has undergone an extensive repair and mantainace program, and was launched to sea 22th april. At the moment there are only some maitenance at the sail that has to be done. Organising the voyage has meant a lot of work for a lot of people. 16 different responcible persons has taken care of their own tasks, and it has included details like insurances, flights for new crew on the way, provision, contacts with harbour authoreties, foreign and norwegian sponsors, viking outfits for the crew etc. etc. In addition we have had a lot of help from our representatives John Nicholl in Dublin and Julian Dixon in London. The last days we have distributed photos and video for promoting the voyage and local events. This is then the final programme: SANDEFJORD Departure 23 june – MidsummerEve -at 17.30 with the yearly boatparade. KIRKWALL, ORKNEYS 1th to 5th july Local coworkers and contacts: VistOrkney Events: receptions, open ship,fundraising with public lecture, sailing with invited passengers. PEEL, ISLE OF MAN 15th to 18th july Local coworkers and contacts: Manx National Heritage, Department of Tourism. Events: Open ship DUBLIN 20th to 24th july Local coworkers and contacts: The Norwegian Embassy, Innovation Norway, National Museum, Dublinia historical centre, Dublin Docklands Development Authority. Events: receptions, open ship WEXFORD 27th july to 2th august Local coworkers and contacts: Wexford County Council, Irish National Heritage Park, Wexford Town, Wexford Yacht Club, Borre Vikingsociety and the Norwegian Embassy. Events: Wexford-Vestfold Viking Festival in the town and in the heritage park. Borrevikings in the park. - 30th july to 1th august-. LONDON 10th to 14th august Local coworkers and contacts: Woolwich Town Centre and Dark Age Society. Events: Open ship and local arrangements. Every destination will be contacted separately with information of aprox. time of arrival and departure – with respect of the tides.
